LaserTube brings fibre laser tube cutting tech to SA fabricators from Wadeville

The Wadeville supplier covers round tube, box section, angle and channel, with rigging, commissioning, operator and nesting training from Germiston.

Most handrail brackets, gate frames and shop fitting racks begin as a plain length of tube, cut, marked, drilled and notched by hand in a series of separate steps. LaserTube, based in Wadeville, Germiston, now offers fibre laser tube cutting machines that let fabricators handle holes, slots, copes and bevels in a single setup across the entire length of material.

Machines scaled to the workshop, not the sales sheet

Also worth a look: Thomas J. Henry puts $2M behind Talarico and Hinojosa in Texas races and Postbye map shows 24 states still force gym cancellations by written letter.

The product line starts with a compact tube laser built for smaller operations handling varied daily batches and an entry-level model focused on round tube work. It extends upward to production-grade and heavy-wall machines designed for repeat runs and thicker sections. Long bed, dual chuck and three chuck configurations allow for longer stock and improved remnant control. Shops looking to reduce manual lifting can add auto loader, bundle loader or semi auto loader options, plus a shuttle infeed, servo support stands and a matching unloading table at the output end.

Open section profiles are also accommodated, with configurations for angle and channel, a bevel head laser for weld prep, and models tailored to furniture tube, sign and display frames, stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium. A nesting station, fume extraction pack and assist gas pack round out the available add-ons.

"Before we talk about a machine, we want the size range, the wall thickness and the longest length that comes off the truck," said LaserTube's applications lead. "A shop that cuts 6 metre round tube for balustrades and a plant feeding bundles of rectangular section for trailer chassis need different chucks, different loading and a different floor plan. Getting that wrong costs more than the price difference between models."

From rigging to the first production run

LaserTube manages the site assessment prior to installation, delivery rigging for heavy equipment moves, installation and commissioning. The handover process covers machine setup, basic operation, nesting practice, chuck alignment, bevel calibration and assist gas setup, with application guidance on the first production jobs. Once the machine is running, the team provides preventive maintenance, breakdown response and remote diagnostics.

The crew operates from Wadeville in the East Rand industrial belt and supports fabricators in Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein and Nelspruit, with other locations arranged on request. Inquiries accompanied by a drawing and wall thickness details can be submitted through the LaserTube website.

Why it matters: For South African fabricators, moving from manual tube processing to a single-setup laser system can cut labour steps, improve accuracy and reduce material waste. LaserTube’s local support and training from Germiston aim to lower the barrier to adopting this technology across the country’s industrial base.
