COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, UNITED STATES, August 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Intero Digital, a comprehensive digital marketing agency covering the full funnel, has unveiled a fresh guide aimed at helping Amazon sellers more precisely determine which marketing channels truly contribute to sales. The guide is called “How to Use Amazon Attribution to Measure What’s Really Driving Sales.”

This publication tackles a frequent oversight in Amazon marketing: companies may achieve their return-on-ad-spend goals yet still lack the ability to verify if that expenditure is producing new sales or merely claiming credit for preexisting demand.

Three Tools, One Framework

Intero Digital’s resource presents Amazon measurement as a layered combination of three tools, not as alternatives in competition:

– Amazon Attribution: Monitors marketing activities outside of Amazon, such as paid social, email, and influencer initiatives, by attaching traceable tags to shared links and attributing purchases to the original channel.
– Conversion path reporting: Reveals the order of on-Amazon ad interactions — including Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, Sponsored TV, and Amazon DSP — that occur before a transaction within a 30-day period.
– Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC): A cloud-based secure environment that combines Amazon’s advertising data with a brand’s own first-party information to evaluate incrementality and track the complete customer journey to purchase.

Limitations of Standard Attribution

The publication identifies four shortcomings in Amazon Attribution’s default 14-day last-click model. Purchases that involve longer consideration periods may occur beyond that 14-day window and remain completely unassigned. Only the final tagged click receives credit for a sale, meaning earlier interactions in the customer’s journey lose acknowledgment even if they generated initial awareness. Additionally, the tool only captures clicks, ignoring view-through attribution for impressions, and does not support cross-device tracking, so a mobile click and a desktop purchase might never be linked. None of these issues mean the tool should be discarded, but Intero Digital warns against relying on it as the single authority for off-Amazon channel choices.

Adjusting On-Amazon Spending and Verifying Genuine Incrementality

Conversion path reporting, which was expanded to cover 29 countries as of November 2025, provides brands with insight into how their various on-Amazon ad formats collaborate, instead of attributing credit solely to the format that last touched the sale. Its primary drawback is a lack of fine detail. Paths are presented at the ad-type level, not broken down to individual keywords or campaigns. Consequently, brands can assess overall format performance, but cannot identify which particular creative or targeting strategy is driving results.

AMC enhances visibility even more, allowing brands to extend their attribution lookback period to 28 days and, after a CES 2025 update, to search through up to five years of Amazon purchase data for longer sales cycles and seasonal items. Intero Digital points out that AMC demands SQL proficiency and either internal technical staff or a skilled agency collaborator, which requires more effort than a simple dashboard.

Intero Digital’s guide positions the objective not as locating an attribution model that flatters current spending, but as identifying one that uncovers the true sources of growth. It advises brands to begin by implementing Amazon Attribution tags on all off-Amazon channels, collect several months of untainted data, and then leverage conversion path reporting and AMC to evaluate which channels are actually producing incremental increases.
