Activity within the long-term uranium market stayed consistent during the third quarter of 2026. Industry consultant TradeTech’s monthly Long-Term Uranium Price Indicator held at US$97.00 per pound of uranium oxide (U3O8) across June, July, August, and September—a rise of $13.00 compared to the benchmark on September 30, 2025.
Based on recent transactions and outstanding offers, the September 30 Long-Term Uranium Price Indicator marks the highest price level seen in more than 18 years.
“Presently, several utilities are actively seeking U3O8, with deliveries beginning as early as 2027 and extending into the late 2030s. Unfolding market and policy developments continue to reinforce the view of sellers that demand is outstripping currently available supply in the near term and will continue to do so," said TradeTech President Treva Klingbiel.
About TradeTech
TradeTech—together with its predecessor firms—has served the uranium and nuclear fuel cycle industry for more than 50 years and is broadly recognized for its trading expertise and deep understanding of the technical, economic, and political forces shaping this sector. The company provides expert market consulting, maintains connections with international nuclear fuel buyers and sellers, and houses an extensive database of industry information.
TradeTech’s Long-Term Uranium Price Indicator reflects the firm’s assessment of the base price at which long-term uranium delivery transactions could be finalized as of the final day of the month, for deals where the delivery price would be an escalation of the base price from an earlier point in time.
The company’s "Nuclear Market Review" (NMR) is issued each Friday evening and includes the Weekly Uranium Spot Price Indicator, uranium trading activity, industry news, and market figures. The monthly edition of the NMR, released on the last day of each month, contains TradeTech Market Values (Exchange Value, UF6 Value, Loan Rate, Conversion Value, SWU Value, and Transaction Value) as well as Mid- and Long-Term Uranium Price Indicators and the Production Cost Indicator, plus analysis regarding price determinations, supply/demand data, and industry and financial news. TradeTech additionally publishes "The Nuclear Review," a monthly trade periodical covering the international uranium and nuclear energy field, and a quarterly “Uranium Market Study.”
