Weekly Startup Funding Surges 48% as Udaan and Emergent Dominate Large Investments

A total of $328.5 million was raised by Indian startups across 16 deals during the week, with Udaan and AI firm Emergent contributing nearly 88% of the overall amount.

By Navneet Singh   July 17, 2026, 10:01:39 PM IST (Published)2 Min ReadDuring the week spanning July 10-16, Indian startups secured $328.5 million through 16 funding rounds—a 48% increase compared to the $222.7 million raised the previous week—despite the deal count dropping from 22 to 16.

The prior week had seen $222.7 million in funding across 22 rounds.

A few substantial transactions were behind this significant funding spike. Leading the pack was B2B ecommerce platform Udaan, which raised $160 million, followed by AI coding startup Emergent, which garnered $130 million. Combined, these two companies represented close to 88% of all capital raised during this period.

Investor attention continued to concentrate on later-stage enterprises, which brought in $290 million—a figure far exceeding the $34.6 million collected by early-stage firms and the $4 million raised by seed-stage startups.

This pattern indicates that investors maintained a preference for more established businesses rather than early-stage ventures.

A comparable trend was observed in India’s fintech sector during the first half of 2026, where startups raised $2 billion, up 42% year-on-year and 83% from the preceding six months. However, that growth was likewise propelled mainly by late-stage funding, while investments in seed- and early-stage startups stayed muted.

Beyond the two largest deals, other startups such as Grovyo ($9.4 million), SwitchOn ($8 million), and E3 Electric ($7.8 million) also obtained fresh capital throughout the week.

Additional companies that secured funding included Dhruva Space, Anmasa, Promom, NapTapGo, and 4baseCare, although the sum raised by 4baseCare was not revealed.

According to Tracxn data, Indian startups have raised nearly $700 million across 53 funding rounds so far in July 2026. The ecosystem has attracted $697.3 million in funding month-to-date, signaling consistent investor interest, though capital has remained concentrated in a limited number of sizable late-stage transactions.
