An expert in early warning systems for infectious disease and biosurveillance has been appointed to Crisis Lab’s Advisory Board, where he will help strengthen its programs and analytical offerings.

Jim has spent 30 years detecting outbreaks before the public sees them. His early-warning judgment is exactly what we need when reviewing Crisis Lab’s intelligence products.”— Kyle King, Founder of Crisis LabSHERIDAN, WY, UNITED STATES, July 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Crisis Lab has named Dr. James Wilson to its brand-new Advisory Board. Wilson will serve as a strategic advisor, providing senior peer assessment of intelligence products, offering guidance on programming and product development, and facilitating introductions throughout his network in health security and biosurveillance.

Based in Reno, Nevada, Wilson is the founder and CEO of Proseko Consulting, Inc. He is a board-certified, practicing pediatrician and helped pioneer the field of operational health security intelligence. For three decades, he has designed systems aimed at anticipating, detecting, and warning of infectious disease emergencies. From 2005 to 2006, he served as operations chief for the Department of Homeland Security’s National Biosurveillance Integration Center during its initial setup, and he later led Project Argus at Georgetown University Medical Center—a methodology that its federal sponsor recognized as an entirely new analytical discipline.

His teams issued warnings about the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, identified Nepalese peacekeepers as the source behind Haiti’s 2010 cholera outbreak six years before the United Nations accepted responsibility, and spotted the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan on December 30, 2019. Wilson notified the World Health Organization on January 1, 2020, days before China reported its first death from the disease. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Intelligence and National Security, JAMIA, and others.

In his new advisory capacity, Wilson will assess pre-publication materials from the Intelligence by Crisis Lab line, provide counsel on programs and products that fall within his subject-matter expertise, and introduce Crisis Lab to institutional partners and qualified specialists.

The Advisory Board offers independent advice on program and product development, institutional collaborations, and ensuring Crisis Lab’s offerings align with the needs of practitioners.
