A veteran at IDRF for ten years brings extensive humanitarian, development, and sector leadership experience to the position.

The International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Nabil Ali has been selected as Interim Chief Executive Officer, starting September 30, 2026, with the role officially taking effect on October 1, 2026.

Ali presently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at IDRF and has devoted a decade to expanding the organization’s humanitarian and development efforts both within Canada and abroad. Over his time at IDRF, he has significantly contributed to reinforcing connections with donors, partners, and communities, and has represented the organization before government, institutional, and international stakeholders.

His background extends well beyond IDRF. Ali has represented the charity at the United Nations General Assembly and various global humanitarian and development gatherings. He has also been a board member for Cooperation Canada and the Ontario Council for International Cooperation, helping shape sector governance and Canada’s international cooperation landscape.

His guidance and impact on the humanitarian and development field have earned national acclaim. In 2020, Nabil was named one of Corporate Knights’ Top 30 Under 30 Sustainability Leaders, and in 2024, he was highlighted among The Peak’s Emerging Leaders in Social Impact.

The Board has collaborated closely with Ali over many years and anticipates his leadership as IDRF moves into its next phase and continues to bolster its humanitarian and development work in Canada and around the world.
