Eldib points out that the calming atmosphere of a haircut naturally encourages deep, personal discussion that can lighten the emotional load many men carry—especially loneliness. A 2025 Gallup survey found that young men in the United States reported higher rates of loneliness and stress than their counterparts in other countries. Eldive views barbershops as a secure, private setting for working through such feelings.
“[A man often] wakes up alone. Even if he’s married, he’s still waking up alone, because he has thoughts that he can’t share with his wife for some reason or closest friends,” he said during the KTLA 5 News interview. “You go to a barbershop… All of a sudden, all your senses are relaxed… Talking to somebody–the barber’s chair, I think, is the perfect place to break that barrier.”
