4KIDS gala nets $500K for Southwest Florida foster families

FORT MYERS, Fla. – When a community fundraiser crosses the half-million-dollar mark, it signals more than a successful evening — it signals a movement. That’s exactly what unfolded on Saturday, October 3, 2026, when 4KIDS Southwest Florida hosted its Tides of Change Gala from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Club at Pelican Preserve.

The gathering drew a room full of local residents, sponsors, and advocates who came together for one purpose: transforming the lives of children and families in the region. Attendees heard firsthand accounts from special guest speaker Kondo Simfukwe and 4KIDS alum Huram Joseph, whose personal stories resonated deeply with the audience. The live auction added to the night’s electricity, offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as a trip to Fiji and an African safari.

The generosity on display was staggering. By the evening’s end, the Southwest Florida community had raised over $500,000 to support children and families in the area.

“What moved me most at Tides of Change was seeing a room full of people unite around a powerful belief: every child deserves someone who will show up, stand beside them, and remind them they matter. Our guests responded with incredible generosity, and because of them, we can help turn the tide for more children and families across Southwest Florida,” said Rick Jacobs, Vice President of 4KIDS Southwest Florida.

Organizers took a moment to acknowledge the Beacon of Hope Co-Presenting Sponsors — Coastal Fertilizer & Supply, Clyde Johnson Contracting & Roofing, and Mo Better Garage — whose backing helped make the event possible. 4KIDS also expressed gratitude to every sponsor whose partnership strengthens the organization’s ongoing mission.

For nearly three decades, 4KIDS has focused on providing Homes, Healing, and Hope to children, families, caregivers, and young adults. The organization works to recruit, license, and support foster families, while also delivering wraparound services like therapy, mentoring, and prevention-based programs centered on safety, belonging, identity, and healing.

Why it matters: This record-breaking fundraising total underscores the depth of community investment in foster care and family stability in Southwest Florida. When local nonprofits receive this level of backing, the ripple effect extends far beyond the gala — it translates directly into more licensed foster homes, more therapy sessions, and more children who know they are not alone.
